Mád Long - Király Vineyard Loop
The recommended route explores the north-eastern outskirts of Mád. The nearly 14 km trail passes through several important vineyards and also takes you to some of the area’s local landmarks.
“I will never belong to the King” – as the old song goes. However, one thing is certain: once you walk around Király and climb the terraces of Öreg Király, it will not let you go.
The centuries-old stone walls and rocky vineyards reveal why this has become one of the most renowned vineyard sites around Mád. As an old saying goes, “May God save you from a grassy yard and a stone-walled vineyard.” Cultivating grapes in places like these is a true challenge, but the wines born here prove that the effort and dedication are well worth it.
The hike itself is easy to complete, but its length makes it perfect for a full-day outdoor experience with relaxing breaks along the way. Several spots along the route are ideal for a picnic and a peaceful rest.
Distance and difficulty: 14 km, easy terrain with some uphill sections.

To follow the route, you will first need a hiking app on your phone. We recommend downloading the KOMOOT app and registering with your email address. No subscription is required.
Why KOMOOT? Because it provides access to satellite imagery without a subscription, making navigation much easier. If you already have a subscription to another hiking app, satellite map layers may also be available there. Once you have downloaded the app, all you need is the GPX file. Your phone will then offer to open it with the KOMOOT app.
