Mád Shorts – Szent Tamás Hill Walk
If you want to truly discover a wine region, the best place to start is among the vineyard rows. If you want to understand a terroir, walk through it and taste the wines born from its stones. The volcanic character of Hegyalja and Mád becomes easier to understand when you see and feel the landscape yourself. With our recommended walks, we would like to bring you closer to these unique vineyards and the wines created from them.
Szent Tamás is one of Mád’s most iconic sites. There are few wine travellers who have not heard its name or tasted a wine originating from the Szent Tamás vineyard.
A short walk allows you to explore the vineyard and its surroundings. During our tours, one of the highlights is the viewpoint at the top of Szent Tamás. The breathtaking panorama is truly captivating, and sitting among the stones with a bottle of wine offers the perfect opportunity to slow down and enjoy the moment.
The walk itself is short and easy to complete. The rocks, warmed by the sun throughout the day, create the perfect setting for a relaxing evening, while the sunset speaks for itself if you decide to stay until dusk.

Follow the trail on your phone.
To follow the route, you will first need a hiking app on your phone. We recommend downloading the KOMOOT app and registering with your email address. No subscription is required.
Why KOMOOT? Because it provides access to satellite imagery without a subscription, making navigation much easier. If you already have a subscription to another hiking app, satellite map layers may also be available there. Once you have downloaded the app, all you need is the GPX file. Your phone will then offer to open it with the KOMOOT app.

Download the route to your phone so that navigation remains available offline, even in areas with limited mobile coverage. Your location will be indicated by a red dot, while your direction of travel will be shown by an arrow. The navigation system also provides voice guidance in English.
