Wine Run fans, the time has come again: Mád’s wildest weekend returns this October!
This autumn, one of Hungary’s craziest running experiences is back, where every kilometer is made unforgettable with wines, gourmet bites, and mini concerts! The course is breathtaking, the atmosphere is guaranteed to be unforgettable, and costumes will once again earn extra points this year. Here, it’s not just about crossing the finish line – every moment of the journey is an experience!
What is a wine run in Tokaj-Hegyalja like?
- Friday: Sparkling Welcome & Premium Pogácsa – Sparkling wines from Mád paired with signature pogácsa specialties from the Anyukám Mondta Bakery.
- Friday night Pasta Party – carb loading for the run!
- A scenic route through the vineyards

During the race weekend, Mád comes alive with wine, music, open wineries, and a vibrant atmosphere. It’s worth coming even if you just want to cheer, taste local wines, or simply experience the unique vibe of the entire weekend.

Pasta Party On the evening before the start, three gourmet restaurants will make sure you’re fully fueled with their special pasta creations. Of course, the registration fee includes this unmissable carb-loading party! If someone is not participating in the Wine Run but would still like to enjoy the atmosphere and the pasta dishes, separate Pasta Party tickets are also available.

What You Need to Know About the Course
The course consists of one large loop with no repeated sections. Easy-to-run forest roads, with occasional asphalt and gravel paths – everything is set for a memorable run through the wine region.
And here, completing the race is not only about crossing the finish line: you also have to taste all the food and wines offered at the refreshment stations! Completion will be marked on your race bib, and officially validated with a stamp at the final station. Valuable prizes and medals await the podium finishers!

Both race distances consist of one large loop – the course does not cross itself and no section is repeated twice. The route is easy to run, mostly taking place on high-quality, wide forestry roads, with shorter sections on asphalt and gravel paths.
Timing for the race is provided by the Raceresult chip timing system with accuracy to one hundredth of a second.
The race uses gun time timing, meaning the clock starts simultaneously for all participants in each race distance.
The overall ranking is determined by the order in which runners cross the finish line.
By scanning the QR code on the bib number, participants can access the online live results list instantly.
The race’s live results will also be displayed on screens in the race center, while printed result lists will be continuously available.
The entire course will be marked with ribbons along the route. At major intersections, signs will also indicate the correct direction.
Running with dogs is allowed during the race under the following conditions:
- Please indicate your intention to run with a dog at the race center.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash or secured with a harness both in the race center area and during the race.
- Presentation of the dog’s vaccination / veterinary health booklet is mandatory when collecting the bib number.
- Female dogs in heat are not allowed to participate in the race.
- One participant may compete with a maximum of one dog.
- The start time for runners with dogs on both race distances will be five minutes after the main field starts, so as not to disturb other runners.
Parking will be available throughout the village of Mád. Participants and accompanying guests may use the designated parking areas located in Mád. Parking outside designated areas is prohibited.
Restroom facilities for participants are available in the visitor center building.
Bag storage will be available at the race center; however, we do not take responsibility for valuables.
Medical assistance at the start/finish area will be provided by the Zemplén Ambulance Service. The organizers’ contact information will be displayed on participants’ bib numbers.
- All participants take part in the race at their own risk. The organizers accept no responsibility for any accidents or damages resulting from participation.
- By submitting a registration, all participants accept the rules of the race and consent to appearing in photos and videos taken during the event, including their promotional use, without any compensation.
- Wearing the bib number is mandatory during the race. Safety pins will be provided.
- Participants declare that they are in appropriate physical condition and adequately prepared for the race.
- The use of headphones is not recommended during the race.
- The race will take place even in rainy or adverse weather conditions.
- Any disputes regarding situations not listed here may be appealed up to 10 minutes after the final finisher arrives. The race jury will make a decision before the award ceremony, and the decision is final.
- Force majeure: If the race cannot be held on the scheduled date due to circumstances beyond the organizers’ control (such as pandemic restrictions, war, flooding, natural disasters, etc.), participants may use 100% of their registration fee toward the following year’s event.

TokajBus:
The TokajBus service provides greatly expanded public transport connections between the surrounding settlements. The “Borongoló” ticket, available from Friday evening until Sunday evening, allows travelers to use both bus and train services between Tokaj, Tarcal, Mezőzombor, Szerencs, Mád, Tállya, Rátka, Bodrogkeresztúr, Bodrogkisfalud, Szegi, Szegilong, and Erdőbénye.

Mád is easily accessible from Budapest, Miskolc, Debrecen, and Nyíregyháza: take an InterCity train to Szerencs, then transfer to a local train where Mád is the first stop.
